Puerto Madryn

Southern right whales, orcas and penguin colonies.

Puerto Madryn is the gateway to Península Valdés, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the planet's most important marine wildlife sanctuaries. Between June and December, southern right whales come to calve and can be spotted from boats in Puerto Pirámides. Punta Tombo is home to the continent's largest Magellanic penguin colony. Orcas, sea lions and elephant seals complete the spectacle.
