San Carlos de Bariloche sits on Lake Nahuel Huapi, surrounded by peaks and coihue forests. It is Northern Patagonia's main mountain hub, with Cerro Catedral as its winter star and the Circuito Chico as a year-round classic. From here the Seven Lakes Route heads to San Martín de los Andes, and the Cruce Andino — ships and buses combined — connects with Puerto Varas (Chile) across the Andes.
